Who We Are
We publish original research on the genomic and epigenomic basis of cancer, alongside the computational methods that make that research possible. The journal is edited by working researchers, reviewed by working researchers, and read by them; every editorial decision is made by someone who could have written the paper themselves.
Founded as a quarterly, we publish four issues a year plus occasional special issues on a single theme. Accepted articles appear online as soon as they are ready rather than waiting for an issue to close, so a finished paper is never held back by a publication schedule.
What We Stand For
Open by default
Every article is free to read from the day it appears. Authors keep copyright and grant us only the right of first publication.
No charges
No submission fee, no page charge, no article processing charge. Publication is funded by the host institution.
Reproducible
Data in a public repository and code that runs are conditions of acceptance, not optional extras.
Fast and fair
Double-anonymised review, published timelines, and a route of appeal heard by an uninvolved editor.

How We Work
Submissions are screened within five working days and, if they go out, reviewed by at least two independent experts. Reviewers do not see who wrote the manuscript and authors do not see who reviewed it. The handling editor weighs the reports and decides; where reviewers split, a third is invited rather than the editor breaking the tie alone.
Editorial decisions rest with the editors. Neither the publisher, the owning institution nor any funder has a say in whether a manuscript is accepted, and no editor decides on a submission from their own institution or a recent collaborator.
Access, Licensing and Preservation
Articles are published under a Creative Commons licence, so anyone may read, redistribute and build on them with attribution. Authors retain copyright. Content is deposited with a persistent identifier and archived so that it remains available if the journal itself ever stops publishing.
